The upper of the Nike SB Dunk Low Tie-Dye ``Roswell Raygun`` shoe has a tie-dye look to pay tribute to Sandy Bodecker, who helped found Nike's skateboarding division, which was made in black throughout the rest of the production process. The shoe itself was inspired by Roswell Rayguns, whose fictional ABA team participated in Nike basketball marketing campaign.
The Dunk SB Low 'Tie-Dye Raygun - Black,' which will be released in January 2020, is a fan favourite from the height of Nike SB's Pink Box period. In tribute of Sandy Bodecker, the late Nike executive responsible with the success of the Swoosh's skateboarding business, the design has been modified with a tie-dye appearance. The Roswell Rayguns, a fictitious ABA team featured in a Nike Basketball marketing campaign from 2002, inspired the sneaker.
After returning to long-time friends, it seems Nike SB is on a high, going through their archived classics to further capitalize on both nostalgia and some of the best designs within their all-encompassing history. Exclusive after the next and many coming close to being impossible to find DS, the next to be recreated is the famed Dunk Low “Raygun” whose likeness has been borrowed many a time since its original debut back in 2005. Unlike the multicolor rendition, however, the duo — one dressed white and this one here accompanying in black — is set to close out 2019 with a psychedelic tie-dye print both at the profile base and the overlays of the heel counter — the signature tones of each of the original placements bleeding through the white backdrop in their respective orange shades. The toony mascot still resides just towards the rear as it once did, fittingly, pointing his titular weapons of choice towards neutral swooshes and same-dyed smooth leather fixtures. Affectionately nodding to the late Sandy Bodecker, the Tie-Dye Rayguns will be releasing on December 27th: the black “Home” pair dropping more widespread at Nike SNKRS and retailers in adults and kids sizes while the white “Away” iteration arriving exclusively to skate shops.
